Town Council Annual Report
Each year the Chairman of the Council makes a report normally at the Annual Town Council
Meeting in May, reviewing the year just passed. The Annual Report contains reference to civic
achievements, financial contributions to local organisations and initiatives and events sponsored
in the Town by the Town Council.
The Chairman's year of office starts in May and continues for 12 months.

Town Council Budget
The Budget sets out the Town Councils plans for a particular financial year.
It is prepared during the period October to December each year and considered firstly be the
Financial and General Purpose Committee, and then at the Town Council Budget meeting in
December.
Finally the Budget is confirmed by the Town Council in January and this total financial commitment
is contained in the Precept application to Cheshire East Council.
Cheshire East Council receive the Alsager Town Council Precept in a direct grant from HM
Government.
The Precept is paid to the Town Council in two instalments in May and September.
The Town Council Precept is shown as a separate charge On your Council Tax bill.

Town Council Grants
Each year Alsager Town Council makes provision in its annual budget for grants to help voluntary
The Annual Audit Report is a document that has several purposes:
To report the annual accounts as approved by the council
To certify that the council has discharged its statutory duties in relation to its
financial affairs
To record that the external auditor has fulfilled his/her statutory responsibility
To inform the local taxpayer and elector about what and how their council has been doing during
the last financial year and
To be a source of information for government and other stakeholders about the activity of local
councils.
The Annual Audit Report is in four sections:
1. The accounts
2. The statement of assurance
3. The external auditor’s certificate and opinion; and
4. Internal Audit’s Report
