Alsager Town Council organised and held a “Clean Up and Fun Day” event on Saturday 28th September at the Radway Club, Longview Avenue to assist the many residents who do not have the means to dispose of or recycle their discarded household items and garden waste and to promote recycling and the reduction in single use plastic.

There was a steady flow of activity throughout the day with local residents, who do not have the means of transport, arriving on foot carrying items such as sofas and an unusable trampoline and young people assisted by wheelbarrows, laden with heavy loads of broken flags, rotting wood and general garden waste.

Chairman of the Alsager Town Council, Rod Fletcher, welcomed a team from the Alsager Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service who attended with their Fire Appliance, a real delight for the children! Alsager is an on-call fire station staffed by on call fire fighters which means they have other main jobs as well as being firefighters so their time at this event was much appreciated.
